(This is Friend Zone film review, which is the Thai rom com dealing with friend zone)
Man, Thai romance films have always been a hit among the Asians. This is due to the number of factors such as similar culture but more importantly, a touching relatable premise. And Friend Zone is another one of them that appears this year from the land of smiles!
It is directed by Chayanop Boonprakob and features Naphat Siangsomboon and Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul. Though they are not the most well-known outside Thailand, perhaps everything will change with this film.
Without further ado, let’s delve into this toxic…Friend Zone film review below! And don’t be surprised~
Premise
Friend zone is a word and a psychological space has been so dreaded by many people, mostly males. It is the point that blurs the line of friend and lover. Palm has a thing for Gink, but when he confessed his feeling, she rejected him…until 10 years later when she gives him a small hint that she may reciprocate back. But what will Palm do now that he is stuck in-between that dreaded line?
Friend Zone Film Review
I think this movie…… Captured the feeling of what it’s like to be put in the friendzone for an indefinite period of time. There’s a lot of talk about going to see this movie with your friendzone crush and having some miracle happen. I suppose it’s possible but let me just say that all those people in the friendzone, you’re only there because you let yourself be there and this movie alone isn’t going to magically change anything unless you yourself take action.
Plotwise… I think it’s quite predictable but the laughs are pretty genuine and they go to a lot of different countries to shoot this film. Its lighthearted when it needs to be and I was moved during the more touching scenes as I did care for both characters. It is very much from the guy’s pov aka friendzone pov.
I think it is well acted all around. I haven’t watched a lot of Thai romcom but honestly I have a very good impression of them. My last one was probably “hello, stranger?” it was a Thai romcom which took place in Korea and its pretty good so if you haven’t seen it you can check it out.
The soundtrack was not bad either and there were quite a few celebrity cameos I think though I’m not very familiar with everyone. There’s really not that much to say. It’s a good romcom so if you’re a fan of that go watch this movie.
