Despicable Me 3 is the third entry in the Despicable franchise that has seen its popularity surges throughout the year. Illumination has decided that a third entry is worth the effort in order to sustain the popularity. This time, most of the characters from the first two franchises are back, and of course, the indispensable minions are included. Without further ado, let’s check out how this film fares compared to its predecessor!

Premise
Gru is now part of the Anti Villain League but his membership is suspended following a failure with the capture of a new criminal called Bratt. By chance, he receives a letter from his unknown twin brother, Dru, and things start to go awry from there.
Review
The narrative has really taken a hit and it becomes painfully obvious that they are running out of ideas to continue the franchise. I felt that the story department is pretty half-baked and also kinda forced. This is the style of narrative that shows the sign of it being milked, no originality or whatsoever. It is predictable and only contains few comedic scenes. Pacing wise is also an issue but less so, with the middle and end parts improving as the film goes. That said, though, the animation is really bright and colourful with pretty good graphics, one of the few redeeming features of the film. Characters wise, nothing much has changed and the new characters leave a weak impression on me. Dru, Gru’s younger twin brother is essentially just another Gru with better hair and the villain tries to be over-the-top but fails to deliver the humour well. Truthfully, if not for the presence of the Minions, this film would have died and been much more boring. Minions are the saving grace with their characters and own style of humour. Lastly, the music is just alright. They are decent, but not memorable enough to leave a lasting impression. This movie is perhaps just meant for kids or die-hard fans of the franchise or the Minions.
