“I can’t recognize this world anymore,” says Alfred to Bruce Wayne and I don’t know why, I felt a little twist in my heart because as much as I know that it was a fictional character in a comic based movie, there is a grain of truth in that statement. My mind played some things in my mind and I couldn’t help but think the same thing.
What has this world become?
The news on the television, the news notifications from my LINE chatting app, my Facebook feed, social media in general. Every time I catch one of these things, a little voice whispers in the back of my head. What is this world becoming?
I couldn’t help a little sadness seeping into my being. I feel sorry for the world that has to bear the brunt of human errors. I feel sorry for the people who somehow found a way to justify evil and people who had to endure the consequences.
With every tragedy, hope fades a little and the next thing you know, you’re wondering, can this world be saved? Is it even worth saving?
Then you see these people. People who make you think, not all superheroes wear capes and in disguise. People who despite everything else, manage to hold on to their hope and beliefs. People who make you think yes, this world is still worth fighting for.
When hopelessness, darkness, start to bleed into your thoughts and doubts begin to take root, remember. Remember Superman and Batman for they say:
Hope is like car keys. Easy to lose but if you dig around, it’s usually close by. –Superman-
I don’t have to recognize this world. I just have to save it. –Batman-
