I Am Here

I Am Here

When the starless night sky consumes the last flicker of light. That’s when demons come out of their hidey-holes. Haunting, daunting. Whispering, lacing your thoughts with poisonous fear.

“You’re alone,” it says.

“Nobody cares.”

“You are nothing.”

It’s a scary place. That darkest corner in your mind. It’s an abyss, a black hole that engulfs all the happiness.

Who cares if one more light goes out?

In a sky of a million stars.

Who cares if one more light goes out?

Well I do.

Linkin Park’s ‘One More Light’ played softly in the car as the car blurred the outside world, merging the green and the blue. One couldn’t help but pondered. Who cares indeed?

I’ve heard so many times, “Who do you think you are? Why should I/we care?” As if the world hasn’t been tough enough. Sometimes, a help can be a small act of kindness. A pair of ears to listen, a shoulder to cry on, a warm hug to melt the frozen heart.

Is the only reason you’re holding me tonight

‘Cause we’re scared to be lonely?

Dua Lipa’s voice echoes in my head. Loneliness. One little word yet it possesses such a strong emotion a lot of people fear of. What’s with being alone that is so scary? The fear that we don’t have anyone who understand, to stand by our side in times of need.

Don’t be.

Don’t be scared.

Even if the whole world turns its back on you, even if you feel like nobody care, know that I do. You don’t need everyone to be on your side. You just need one. One voice that tell you that you are loved, that you matter.

You are not alone.

If you think you’re nobody because you’re merely one person, you’re wrong. You are one person but you make a difference. Every single soul does. Every single person counts.

You are not alone.

Wherever you are, I care.

I’m here.
