Jazz music playing softly in the car. The sound of raindrops pitter-pattering on the windows. A little chill in the air. The warmth from the breath of the person sitting on the wheel. The soft gaze, first towards what lies on the other side of the window, blur of lights, then towards the person on the inside, safely cocooned in a little bubble.
What is romance? Is it merely an illusion? Created by none other than human beings to satisfy a need for something more? Is it ever real? Or is it just another sensory illusion?
Staring outside the window, looking at the world beyond. A couple huddling underneath a huge tree, trying to warm each other, trying to avoid the rain, that seems to grow heavier. Hands intertwined, smiles exchanged, eyes met.
Sipping on a cup of hot chocolate, looking sideway, a shy glance, a smile, lips on the rim of the styrofoam cup.
Jazz and raindrops. Melting into one. The world outside merged and blurred into lights and sounds.
Jazz and rain.
And nothing else.
