Midnight Songs: Silence in Loudness

It’s way past 12am, with the roads and rooms being at its quietest. You are still awake, playing with your device and occasionally looks out the window. What you see is just yourself. A reflection that stares back at you, nothing more nothing less.

The music in your playlist begins playing, or perhaps it is even from the random playlist on some websites or music apps. Whatever genre they are, you enjoy it, for it fits the current atmosphere and mood. Be it sad or happy songs, the emotions that they invoke in your inner mind start dancing among the silence. Seconds pass, minutes pass and then hours disappear. You are in your own world, away from the silent world outside.

The tone and melody weave through the air. The instruments hit hard or soft, and the mellowness of your own heart melts together with your tired body. It’s getting very late and your body starts to notice its decline. You lie down on the bed, its coldness instantly triggering your sleepiness. Yet, the music still plays on, bringing you into a state in-between dream and reality.

Everything starts to get silent. But the music loudness is still in your mind. It’s such a wonderful contrast, of which it makes you alive at that point before your body stops moving. That moment is then frozen, and you unknowingly start to enter the other world. Till you wake up, this is the state of bliss. A blessing that comes from simple enjoyment in a quiet night.
